My Calling to Mozambique

By Andréia Guilmet – Founder of the Brazilian Wax Foundation

From a very young age, I carried a missionary heart within me. I always knew my faith had to go beyond words — it had to become action. Over time, that calling only grew stronger, until I could no longer ignore it. It was time to step out of my comfort zone and go meet those in need. That’s when God led me to Mozambique.

My first trip happened through the IDE Africa project. I was invited to join a mission trip, and the moment I set foot on that land, something inside me changed forever. The reality I encountered — vulnerable children, hunger, thirst, hopelessness — broke me. I knew I couldn’t return home and live as if nothing had happened. That was the moment everything began.

The Brazilian Wax Foundation was born out of a deep desire to turn what started as a business into a vessel for eternal purpose. I truly believe that God uses what’s in our hands — and in my case, He used my professional success to open doors for justice, compassion, and transformation.

What We Do in Mozambique

Our work in Mozambique is practical and full of love. Our main focus is on drilling wells to provide clean water for entire communities, and on building schools in areas where education is still a privilege for a few. We also organize evangelistic outreach, support vulnerable children, and distribute food, clothing, and — above all — hope.

We always work with local partners who know the community’s reality deeply. They are our eyes and hands on the ground, allowing us to serve with greater sensitivity, impact, and cultural understanding.

So far, we’ve impacted more than 300 families in Mozambique. Every well we dig, every classroom we build, every hug we give — it’s all a result of a mission driven by the love of Jesus.

Our Values and What Makes Us Different

We are guided by the example of Christ. Compassion, humility, service, faith, and obedience are the pillars of all we do. This mission is not about me, nor about the foundation. It’s about the Kingdom of God.

What makes us different is the heart behind our service. We don’t just deliver material aid. We bring presence. Prayer. Listening. Human touch. We cross oceans not just with resources — but with a willingness to love deeply.

Partnerships and Structure

We never work alone. We always walk alongside local leaders and churches. Unity is a spiritual strategy. Before we start any project, we conduct exploratory visits, talk with local leaders, and most importantly, we pray. We don’t enter any new nation without first hearing from the Holy Spirit.

We’ve helped renovate churches, built wells, and supported schools and orphanages with both financial and material resources. It’s ongoing and growing work.

A Calling and a Future

Yes, I believe I was born for this. My heart burns for this calling. I believe Jesus has placed this purpose inside me — to be His hands and feet where hope feels lost.

In five years, I dream of seeing permanent support centers in at least five nations, with teams serving on the ground and a thriving international volunteer program, where more people can experience this missionary calling with me.
